Question by What Should I Get Her?: What book should I get my 18 year old girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary?
The only requirement is that it can’t deal with vampires. I’m looking for my 18 year old girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary, and I don’t read a lot of books myself… I know she’s not into Twilight/True Blood/etc., (no offense, but thankfully…) and she really likes Meg Cabot, and kind of teen smut novels.

What would be a good book that falls under similar authors or categories, or what would be another good suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Martina Cole – any of the books they are all fantastic i started reading them when i was 19 26 now and every new one never disappoints – there about crime based in londons underground as they call it but also follows love storys aswell my favorate Goodnight Night lady 1st one i read – you may think crime – but trust me every person i have given a book of hers to read both men and women are hooked

My ex’s girlfriend gave my son a novel to read with graphic depictions of hetero and homo sex, prostitution and gratuitous violence sprinkled throughout the text. I was shocked, to put it mildly. Parts of the novel were good and geared for a teen reader but the rest was garbage meant for adult minds only in my opinion. Am I overreacting?

I don’t think you’re overreacting. As a parent, you have the right to say what you think is appropriate it and what is not. I wouldn’t be happy if ANYONE gave my kid a book like that. Yes, the probably know about sex at that age, but they don’t need to be reading books like that.
